UPDATE 09/09/2009:
The Boston Union Wrestling Club is scheduled to begin it's 2009/2010 Season tentatively on Wednesday, SEPTEMBER 9th, 2009!!We will begin enrollment on the first day of practice.

We have no specific enrollment period, so if you wish to join, you may do so any time during the season. Sign up at our practice.

REQUIREMENTS:
1.)Attire: Wrestling shoes are required. Headgear is optional, but suggested. Shirts and shorts that fit well (not loose fitting), or a wrestling singlet is acceptable.

2.) Forms and membership: USA Wrestling card is required. Available at [link], or you can buy one through the club. All wrestlers must complete application and sign online waiver forms. Health insurance is required of all athletes. It is also Massachusetts state law that Mass residents have health insurance.

TOURNAMENTS:
Competition in Spring, Fall, and Summer competitions are optional. We let our wrestlers know about opportunities to compete and usually travel together.

SEASON:
Our annual season begins in September and ends the last day of August, in conjuction with USA Wrestling's annual membership registration. We have practices year-round.

HISTORY: The Boston Union Wrestling Club was restored in 1997, reviving a club maintained until 1985 by Jim Peckham, Olympian and coach. It consists of individuals aged primarily from 18 to 40 who want to wrestle competitively as well as recreationally. Our focus is on folkstyle/scholastic wrestling. We practice freestyle before freestyle events as well during the off-season.

Monday/Wednesday Practice Information:

WHERE: New Mission Hill H.S., 67 Alleghany Street, Roxbury, MA. Gym is in the basement level ofthe building.

WHEN: Monday and Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:30PM.*

*No practice when Boston Public Schools are closed for weather or vacation. Alternate locations or dates may be offered.

WHO: Wrestlers, students,coaches, former wrestlers, martial arts enthusiasts. All levels of experience. Jr. High, High School, Open.

WHAT: Warm-up, stretching, conditioning, drilling instruction, and live wrestling.
